David Heap David was brought up in the north of England where his beginning experience walking was with his school’s hiking club. He has spent time underground exploring the subterranean wilderness in both England and Tasmania. Behind emigrating in 1988 he became a member of The Wild River Caving Club and found many fresh caves within the pristine rain forests of the West Coast. He has walked extensively throughout Tasmania and has called Flanders Island home for the past 10 years where he continues to explore the reckless and secluded beauty of this Bass Strait Island. Along with his wife Kathleen, David spends much of his spare time walking the local coastline and climbing some of the more distant peaks within the Strzelecki National Park.
